History
Precursor for Bosswik
Kaj Levorsen, father to Bosswik founder Morten Levorsen and first generation of belt makers, starts crafting belts.
Learning the craft
At the age of 10, Bosswik founder Morten Levorsen starts helping out in his parents’ company making belts after school.
The start of Bosswik
Bosswik is founded in 1989 by Morten Levorsen, second generation of belt makers.
Based on Morten’s assesment of the assortment of leather belts in clothing shops in the nearby city, he finds the quality too poor and the price too expensive. He decides that he can do better himself.
More than a workshop
A single order of 11,000 belts propels Bosswik towards industrialized craftsmanship. Making less than 100 belts per day at the time, this order makes it possible to introduce the first specialized belt machines – a few of these machines are still found in the factory today.
Moving out
The belt production moves out of the confines of the initial address making room for new machines and scaling up the production even further.
The start of today's HQ
The production moves to the address, where Bosswik is situated today. A year prior to this, warehouse and administration moved in – an address only a few hundred meters from where Bosswik began.
Expansion
The production facility is expanded by another production hall, expanding the building area from 1,200 to 3,000 square meters.
Third generation
Anders Levorsen, son of Bosswik founder Morten Levorsen, joins the company. This marks the third generation in the family of belt makers dedicated to the craft.
Leather certification
100% of all leather used by Bosswik is now certified by Leather Working Group in either tier silver or gold.
All leather is European, which it has been for years.
